For my 50th birthday this year . . .

I told Brad I wanted no party, no gifts, but a family trip and a trip with my dear friend, Mara. The family spent time in historical Williamsburg in Virginia earlier this month. Mara and I chose Cope Cod + Nantucket for our trip.

We flew into Boston early Monday and checked into the iconic Chatham Bars Inn, which did not disappoint. That day, we ventured into Chatham in search of ice cream (I had ginger). The following day, we ventured up the coast, stopping at the National Seashore station, hiking Buttonbush trail around the salt pond, visiting colorful Provincetown, and rounding the day out at Race Point Beach (pictured left).

On day three, we ferried over to Nantucket, visited bar Yoshi and met amazing designer, Christian Arkay-Leliever. We also ate at Cru and the Tavern. We rode to the other end of the island and walked along the Siasconset (oddly, pronounced "Sconset") bluffs and beach. We sailed back to the mainland and watched the summer sun set below the water.

Our fourth and final day, we ventured out to the bars with a private boat tour with Captain Bill Truesdale and got a close-up glimpse of the seals and birds.
