Return to Paris .

I lived in Paris in my early 20s, in the 90s. Returning for the first time with my husband and son was a trip down memory lane and a chance to discover the city anew.

We visited most of the typical spots (Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Musée d'Orsay, Montmartre, Nôtre Dame and stayed near Saint Sulpice.

We visited my old apartments, the first along Boulevard St. Michel (near the Val de Grâce) and the store from which I obtain far too many meals (there was an internal passage from my apartment building to the back the store and I was a young, broke student at the time). My apartment was a 300 ft. ² chambre de bonne at the top of a six-story-walk-up. I would love to have a photograph of the rickety wooden staircase. I would get a running start and bound up all six flights as quickly as I could. I found that easier than slowly lumbering up one at a time. I walked constantly and weighed 100 lbs. at that time. My room is the one with the Nepali prayer flag hanging.

My second apartment was on Rue le Verrier. I have two photos of the windy quiet street.
